I don&#8217;t like it when <em>Google<\/em> thinks for me either.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been looking for some material on my Goldenstein family which originated in Wrisse, Ostfriesland, Germany. While <em>Google<\/em> is not the only place to locate such material online, it is a good start. The problem is that it tries to &#8220;help&#8221; by thinking that I meant &#8220;Goldstein.&#8221;\u00a0While I am fully aware that names can be spelled a variety of ways in certain materials, this family is pretty consistent in using the &#8220;Goldenstein&#8221; spelling.<\/p>\n<p>Quotation marks around the words will force\u00a0<em>Google<\/em> to look for only the spellings that I include, not others that it thinks may be helpful. Of course putting quotes around the phrase will force\u00a0<em>Google<\/em> to search for the phrase &#8220;goldenstein wrisse,&#8221; which is not what I want.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s always nice to have options and if I want to look for goldstein later, I can simply use &#8220;goldstein&#8221; as one of my search terms.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/quotes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1112\" src=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/quotes.jpg\" alt=\"quotes\" width=\"641\" height=\"401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/quotes.jpg 641w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/quotes-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 641px) 100vw, 641px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t like it when the computer thinks for me.
