This is not just a database for those with German immigrants to the United States. It&#8217;s a database with those who might have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>tried to avoid the draft<\/li>\n<li>ran a house of ill-repute<\/li>\n<li>sold illegal hooch<\/li>\n<li>killed someone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That group includes more than just German immigrants.<\/p>\n<h3>Distribution of Booze<\/h3>\n<p>In May of 1919, W. C. Hatton of Ft. Worth, Texas, wrote a letter to report that a man named Dick Ferris had been importing whiskey into Texas and selling it out of his trunks at the Westbrook Hotel. According to Hatton, Ferris also stored the whiskey in the &#8220;old bank vault&#8221; nearest the door of a clearing house at 7th and Main Streets.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-865524-10934994?url=https:\/\/www.fold3.com\/title_74\/fbi_case_files\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1552 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fold3-booze.jpg\" alt=\"fold3-booze\" width=\"621\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fold3-booze.jpg 621w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fold3-booze-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 621px) 100vw, 621px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Distribution of Booze<\/h3>\n<p>Josephine Tinsley (alias Josephine Evans) was running a house of ill-fame within five miles of a Florida naval station in 1918. This was a violation of Section 13 of the Selective-draft Act and she was arrested.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-865524-10934994?url=https:\/\/www.fold3.com\/title_74\/fbi_case_files\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1553 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fold3-ill-fame.jpg\" alt=\"fold3-ill-fame\" width=\"652\" height=\"485\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fold3-ill-fame.jpg 652w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fold3-ill-fame-300x223.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 652px) 100vw, 652px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Killing a Mexican<\/h3>\n<p>In 1917, Texas residents Charles and Marshall Saathoff were involved in the shooting of Vincente Perez over a monkey wrench that the Saathoffs claimed Perez had stolen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-865524-10934994?url=https:\/\/www.fold3.com\/title_74\/fbi_case_files\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1554 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fold3-killedmexicans.jpg\" alt=\"fold3-killedmexicans\" width=\"729\" height=\"578\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fold3-killedmexicans.jpg 729w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fold3-killedmexicans-300x238.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 729px) 100vw, 729px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Failing to Register<\/h3>\n<p>William Tinsley was questioned on 23 July 1917 regarding his failure to register for the draft. I&#8217;ve seen other cases of this type where, in an attempt to prove their age, family bibles were brought in. Those bibles were found to have been altered to make the man ineligible for the draft.
