It is also a database whose title changes as time moves on and it is updated.<\/p>\n<p>Because the data is read by computers and the database entries are automatically created, there are issues. As of 1 November 2017, there were over 70,000 entries for individuals who were born in &#8220;about 2016&#8221; and died in 2015. A small random sampling of these entries were for individuals whose death notice did not include an age or a date of birth. The entry for one &#8220;individual&#8221; named &#8220;Pending Arrangements&#8221; indicated that they were living in East Moline, Illinois, and died at the Heartland Health Care Center.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ancestry.com\u00a0<\/em>does provide an URL for where the obituary or death notice was located online. Some times this is to a specific article or item. Other times this link is to a funeral home&#8217;s main page and the user will have to find the obituary by searching the site.<\/p>\n<p>The URL for the individual named Pending Arrangements made it clear how the information was recognized by the computer. There were several death notices in the\u00a0<em>Quad-City\u00a0<\/em><em>Times<\/em> on 30 May 2017 under the heading of &#8220;Pending Arrangements&#8221; as shown:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5676\" src=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/pending-newspaper.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"839\" height=\"513\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/pending-newspaper.jpg 839w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/pending-newspaper-300x183.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/pending-newspaper-768x470.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 839px) 100vw, 839px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These sort of things are simply what happens when automatic processes are used to create records.<\/p>\n<p>There are also search results in\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/click-865524-11714212?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ancestry.com%2Fsearch%2Fdb.aspx%3Fdbid%3D7545\">U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-2017<\/a>&#8221; for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>firstname graveside lastname service<\/li>\n<li>firstname ogden lastname newspapers<\/li>\n<li>lastname visitation<\/li>\n<li>firstname private<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are undoubtedly more.<\/p>\n<p>Take care using &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/click-865524-11714212?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ancestry.com%2Fsearch%2Fdb.aspx%3Fdbid%3D7545\">U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-2017<\/a>.&#8221; Any database can create errors and the informed user is best equipped to make efficient use of the database.<\/p>\n<p>The option is to search the internet yourself.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ancestry.com recently updated its &#8220;U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-2017.&#8221; This is a database of information harvested from online obituaries throughout the United States.
