There is no notation that there is more than one family in the household.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7199\" src=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1870-smith-kile-entire-236x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"236\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1870-smith-kile-entire-236x300.jpg 236w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1870-smith-kile-entire-768x977.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1870-smith-kile-entire-805x1024.jpg 805w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 236px) 100vw, 236px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not up to the transcriber to interpret family structure from a census entry that does not specify relationships (this is a pre-1880 census after all). The transcriber&#8217;s prime directive is to render the information faithfully. Period. Full stop.\u00a0 It is the researcher&#8217;s job to interpret and analyze the information&#8211;<em>preferably combined with other information obtained from other sources<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ancestry.com\u00a0<\/em> has enough to to with transcribing things correctly, making certain their website is operational, and fixing\u00a0<em>Rootsweb<\/em>.
