And, as Emmar stated, it was either she move to Ottumwa or marry Osenbaugh. John Osenbaugh was fifteen years older than Emmar when they married.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently Emmar was going to live with her sister in Ottumwa at the time of her marriage to Osenbaugh. This sister (apparently Minerva) lived in Chicago at the time of Emmar&#8217;s statement, but she and Emmar do not write.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7342\" src=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/1918-oct-25-emmar-sargent-statement4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"951\" height=\"833\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/1918-oct-25-emmar-sargent-statement4.jpg 951w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/1918-oct-25-emmar-sargent-statement4-300x263.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/1918-oct-25-emmar-sargent-statement4-768x673.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 951px) 100vw, 951px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Osenbaugh died at the soldier&#8217;s home, where he could get better care than Emmar could give him at home. He &#8220;gave me this place&#8221; (apparently her home in Woodburn) and she had lived there since his death.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s more about Emmar&#8217;s life in her pension application.
