Fold3.com<\/a><\/em>\"\"‘s “Registers of Enlistments in the United States Army, 1798-1914,” (taken from page 36 of roll 34, National Archives and Records Administration microfilm publication M233, page 196) contains the enlistment information for the “younger” Andrew Trautvetter.<\/p>\n

I’m not certain the two Andrew Trautvetters found in “Never Assume There is Only One<\/a>” are actually the same guy. The information for this guy who enlisted in 1867 indicated that he was\u00a0 a 30 year old farmer born in Saxony. He had blue eyes, brown hair, and a light complexion and stood 5’10”.<\/p>\n

He deserted in September of 1868 and was dishonorably discharged in Washington Territory on 24 April 1869 as a private.<\/p>\n
