Our concentration is on getting you started with DNAPainter in a way that will help you make effective use of it as your research progresses. If you\u2019ve wondered what DNAPainter is, how to use, and what it can do for you, this presentation will help you to do that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You cannot upload your raw data to DNA Painter. Using just one tool is not an effective way to analyze your DNA matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Date: 28 July 2019 for live attendance. DNAPainter tells you when a new painted match has shared DNA with other matches you\u2019ve already painted. We\u2019ll be using that feature of the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We will look at<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>organizing your analysis and process<\/li><li>documenting your thought process and conclusions for later review<\/li><li>tracking shared matches<\/li><li>assigning segments to ancestors and couples<\/li><li>specific examples\u2013including one where the grandfather of the testee was unknown<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>What you should already know or have done<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Basics of DNA analysis\u2013accuracy of predicted relationships, centimorgans and segments, why you don\u2019t have DNA from every one of your ancestors, why third cousins may not share DNA, why siblings don\u2019t have the same DNA, why predicted cousin relationships are estimates, etc.<\/li><li>Experimented with DNAPainter\u2013at least painted a few matches.<\/li><li>Also recommended that you\u2019ve already uploaded you DNA data to GedMatch\u2013we won\u2019t be discussing how to do that in this presentation.<\/li><li>Have already looked at your GedMatch results<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This session focuses on the free aspects of DNA Painter at http:\/\/www.dnapainter.com.
