Modifiers of this type make it possible for the researcher to learn a little more about the item in question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>A &#8220;Weir Sulkey[<em>sic<\/em>] plow&#8221; was valued at $10 and was one of a handful of items in the Trask estate for which a little more background information could be obtained.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"936\" height=\"880\" src=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/appraisement-trask.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/appraisement-trask.jpg 936w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/appraisement-trask-300x282.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/appraisement-trask-768x722.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 936px) 100vw, 936px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> A search on\u00a0<em>GenealogyBank <\/em>located several references to the Weir company, one of which is shown below. This article appeared in the\u00a0<em>Daily Inter Ocean<\/em>\u00a0and included brief summary of the Weir Plow Company based in Monmouth, Illinois. Given the proximity of Monmouth to Mercer County, Illinois, it seems pretty reasonable that this is the company that manufactured the sulky plow that was inventoried among Andrew&#8217;s items. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"548\" height=\"867\" src=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/weirplowworks.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/weirplowworks.jpg 548w, https:\/\/rootdig.genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/weirplowworks-190x300.jpg 190w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 548px) 100vw, 548px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> A sulky plow is one that has an actual seat for the user instead of requiring the user to walk behind it.
