I don’t understand “having a favorite ancestor.” The concept of favorite does not make any sense to me.
I don’t have a favorite ancestor any more than I have a favorite child.
I do have some who have been more of a research challenge than others. I do have some that I have researched more than others, but that’s usually because they have fewer descendants, been more difficult to research, or have been less well documented. I want to tell their stories because the stories of some of the others have already been told.
But a favorite? I don’t think so.
