This is the first I’ve purchased something on Ebay with the intention of not keeping it: A 1914 picture of the Hancock County, Illinois, grand jurors.
I often search for Hancock County items with the hope of stumbling across something directly related to one of my many families there. I’ve posted some of the items I have purchased, mainly postcards. This was an item that I could not pass up and one that I wanted to see somewhere that it would be preserved.
Unfortunately I’m not remotely related to any of the men in the picture.
However, I decided to purchase the picture and donate it to the Hancock County Historical Society in Carthage, Illinois. As we’ve suggested in previous postings, I asked first if they would be interested in such a donation before I made the purchase. After all, I have enough items to worry about that are related to my own family without acquiring ones that are not.
But sometimes a person just hates to let something slip away.

Do you have a list of the grand jurors?
We will publish a full list and a better image when the item has been received. The image used in the blog post was from the ebay sales posting.
