Genealogists have easier access to more information than they ever have. With that increased access comes some realities that we all must address on a daily basis:

  • Realizing that we may not have access to all information– not all records being online and many online records are not fully indexed.
  • Being overwhelmed with data and being unable to sift out and focus on relevant material.
  • Failing to understand and interpret correctly what we do find.

I try and remind myself of these things every day as I research:

  • there could be more out there
  • I must constantly focus
  • I must constantly learn
