It’s been out for a while, but I have finally ordered my copy of Val Greenwood’s The Researcher’s Guide to American Genealogy, 4th edition. I have an earlier edition of this book but decided to go ahead and purchase this new one. Researchers who have been around genealogy for a while are usually familiar with Greenwood’s book. It’s been used as a textbook in genealogy courses for some time. In fact, I used it as a text in courses I taught years ago.

The book focuses on how records were recorded and maintained and the research process. It’s not a guide to citation. There are other books for that. If you feel there are gaps in your knowledge of American records, The Researcher’s Guide to American Genealogy will help to fill those in.

We’ll discuss the book more once it arrives.
