Those of us with rural ancestors sometimes don’t think to use publications other than newspapers to find references to our relatives. While this item from 1949 is not a “major find,” it was an interesting discovery. My grandfather is listed as consigning a bull to a sale of the Lamoine Valley Angus Breeder’s Association.
Had I not already known it, the reference would have confirmed my grandfather was alive in 1949 (which I already knew). It would not be evidence that he was alive on the date of publication for the magazine or the date of the sale.
His residence was given as well. This item has been digitized in the Illinois Digital Newspaper Collection.
