Clark Sargent was born in Vermont in 1805 and probably died in Winnebago County, Illinois, in the late 1840s. Some things I’ve learned about research from Clark:
- your children’s pension files may shed light on you. A great deal was learned about Clark’s life in the Civil War pension file of his daughter.
- copiers will copy. There is no hard proof of when Clark died, but it was referenced in one genealogy and has been reprinted numerous times.
- dying young impacts your family. Clark’s wife died within a few years of his death and the children were raised by their step-father as Clark and his wife had moved a significant distance from their immediate families.
My ancestor table can be viewed on my site. Clark is my 3rd great-grandfather.
